25일 네팔 수도 카트만두 인근에 강도 7.8 규모의 지진이 발생했다. 이 사고로 약 2500명이 숨을 거두고 약 5000명이 부상당한 것으로 알려졌다. 최악의 경우 사망자가 1만 명에 달할 수도 있다는 관측이 나왔다.
